This Privacy Policy explains how Putt.com ("Putt.com", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address, and we store authentication details securely through our authentication provider.
- Profile and activity data. Information you add to your profile, such as favourite courses, logged rounds, handicap data, preferences, and bookings.
- Newsletter sign-ups. The email address (and optional name) you provide when subscribing to our newsletter.
- Communications. Information you include when you contact us, such as the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. Basic information about how you interact with the Service, such as pages viewed and features used.
- Device and log data. Information such as your browser type and approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Local storage. We store certain preferences and cached data in your browser's local storage, such as your selected language and temporary odds data, to improve performance.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including your account, favourites, rounds, and handicap tracking.
- To send you the newsletter and respond to your enquiries.
- To personalise content such as course recommendations and language preferences.
- To monitor and analyse usage and to protect the security and integrity of the Service.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences (such as language), and cache data for performance. You can clear this data through your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly without it.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third-party services to operate the Service. These providers process limited data on our behalf or when you interact with their features:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and profile data.
- Netlify — website hosting and content delivery.
- Open-Meteo — weather data for course-area forecasts.
- DataGolf — professional golf statistics and indicative betting odds.
- News feeds (such as BBC Sport, Google News, and RSS aggregation) to display golf articles.
- Google Translate — optional on-page translation, if you use it.
- Affiliate and travel partners (such as Amazon and Expedia). When you click these links, the destination site's own privacy policy applies.
Each third party operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
5. Affiliate Disclosure
Putt.com participates in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Associates Program. When you purchase through certain links on our site, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This does not influence the information we present.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us operate the Service, under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Putt.com, our users, or others.
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Privacy Rights
You have control over your personal information, and Putt.com provides self-service tools in your profile's Settings to exercise the most common rights directly:
- Access and portability. Use Download My Data to export a complete copy of the information we hold about you — your profile, logged rounds, favourite courses, bookings, and preferences — in a machine-readable JSON file.
- Correction. You can view and update most account and profile information at any time in your profile.
- Deletion. Use Delete My Account to permanently erase your account and all associated data, including your authentication record. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.
- Newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — including rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information. For any request you cannot complete with the in-app tools above, contact us at privacy@putt.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children, and betting-related content is intended only for adults of legal age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Third-Party Links
The Service contains links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
